Sometime ago there was much talk about free wi fi availability promises but when major necessity arises due to extraordinary and sudden shift to digital plateform due to the situation caused by COVID 19 neither such promises and actions are being demanded nor such promises and actions are being delivered. Everyone is spending a huge part of his/her monthly income for data but no one is either demanding or promising or providing free data via wi fi. After advent #COVID19 education, health, finance, marketing, entertainment, and almost everything under this sky have gone digital and online. Every stake holder is maintaining air tight silence on the need of free internet, freedom of internet and freedom for internet. Great!!
In a democracy we chose a government on our behalf by vesting our own power to some people/groups and expect that power center will look after our needs and well being and will provide us all facilities or at least at least will act to realise our all well being. But at present neither public nor power centers are bothering about the expenditure incurred upon such massive and urgent shifts. This is particularly in a period when income of almost class of people has been adversely and significantly diminished . We are said to adopt AROGYA SETU, and in many cases we are forced to , no one is telling how can a common man with decreased income meet data expenses. And what about data equipments like smart phones prices?
As a general public we have not been provided options . Children were ordered to study from home, employees were ordered to work from home, markets were closed and public were ordered to do online marketing, hospitals were closed and patients were ordered to attend doctors online, travel tickets were being made available only online, and almost every service, including those of social securities were made available only online. But there is no talk about the means by which we the people of Indis have to avail these necessary services. It's the height of recklessness shown by power centers and deep hibernation shown by public consciousness. Really a sleeping Democracy we have!!
