INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM
It's argued by freedom lovers that human dignity includes the individual's freedom of choice and on this ground they argue that system of law and justice must not interfere with individual's freedom of choice. They argue that this is against the basic human dignity. Of course this argument for individual's freedom of choice is fundamental to human dignity and if it curbs human dignity that system of law and justice must be denied by the society for better development of human being. If human beings don't feel a safe place for their dignity it's against the growth of society as a whole. If this principle is denied many basic edifice of the society like democracy, secularism, social and economic justice and many more will collapse. There is no naysaying to this argument.
But is it sufficient to make this place a better place? I think no. Human beings are humane due to two basic reasons, one they have power to reason and two, they can cohabit with fellow human beings. If these two characteristics are withdrawan homosapiens lose to qualify as a human being. These two are starting point to become human being. If we agree with these basic assumptions, and then we examine the question of human freedom we will have to test an individual's choice accordingly. If an individual's choice qualifies these two, i.e. if the choice is based on reasoned arguments, and if the choice doesn't disturb cohabitation it may be ok, even if it may be against the moral values and system of law and justice as these two are relative to time and space. Principles guiding reasoned choice and cohabitation make the required changes in moral values and laws possible which leads to make a place a better place.
