A lot has been being discussed to mitigate the effect of COVID 19 including that of economic packages, adoption of virtual technology in all walks of life, a large scale relief work and intensive vaccine development projects. Governments and even business tycoons are pouring money to achieve these. Besides these politics of finding culprits of Corona is also in full swing trying to push China to a defensive corner. At the same time societies all over are facing their covert and covert vices like communal hatred, racial hatred, class hatred and so on. Media are using every second of watch in explaining all these. But in the midst of all these we as common people are failing to understand why our robust health care infrastructure, although it is poor in many countries could be fractured and ruptured so easily in the time of pandemic . Barring a few exceptions no one dare to discuss this very basic issue. Even WHO , the chief strategist in the field of health has deliberately ignored this question and let it passed undiscussed. And that is being covered by some confirmed and many unconfirmed news of vaccine development projects.
But is it not still pertinent to try to find why our public health care system all over the world with a few exceptions like South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and Kerala in India had failed to live the expectations of the public, why it could not deliver? Answer is not far from sight, only issue we are either not trained or educated to see it or we are thrown into infodemic cooked with pandemic so that we can't see the real reason. Corona virus might be naturally grown or lab developed organism but it is here to stay and to make us sick. Let us ask a question, despite so much global expenditure on public health, despite so much public health programmes throughout the world , despite so much private investment in health care system , despite existence of so much big health organizations how could Corona virus succeed to infect such a large papulation covering all parts of the earth?
The answer lies in continued global thrust on macro-health system coupled with continued negligence of community health approach or micro-health system. Throughout the world over emphasis has been being given to macro-health system which includes erection of expensive modern health care systems and mind-blowing profit creation by pharma companies. All these were being done at the cost of development of cheap and cost effective communitay based health system which is more of philanthropic nature resulting in minimum profit. Both public and private sectors ignored this micro approach to health care system. If it would had been, we had a chain of workers engaged in educating the common masses on day to day basis about the general health care with natural emphasis on women and children health. This would have created a large scale awareness among common people regarding this recent health menace which most potent cure is only and only awareness.
