RISE OF COMMUNAL POLITICS WITH RISING INEQUALITY

See what has been happening in India for last three decades. From 1990 when new economic reforms were introduced there was major paradigm shift from socialist model state controlled economy to market driven economy. Suddenly our markets started galvanizing and new opportunities started appearing. We become a global partner of newly arrived globalization era. We all were excited. But the fruits of new economic development were not equitably distributed, neither were the equitable opportunities for all. The then existing social structure heavily dominated by particular religious and caste groups enabled the better placed groups to amass the fruits of economic development. At the same time these  groups were quick to capture opportunities as well. Mandal effect certainly enabled certain classes to grab some opportunities but these facilities were  restricted to old  govt sector only. Mandal politics tried to fill the gap by enabling certain caste groups to become politically dominant castes so that they can match their economic deprivations. But here also elite castes  among backward casted won the race at the cost of other backward castes. All such developments led to increase in multilayer inequality. At the same time another stream of politics was also gaining ground, and that was of hard-line communal politics represented by the Ram Mandir movement. Increasing inequality in the era of new economic policy and rising aspirations of backward castes due to newly found political power due to Mandal Movement fuelled discontent in the socity. The liberal Congress led govt of that time couldn't understand the issues involved and tried to counter the discontent by certain steps like, increasing the area of operation of market economy, increasing the integrration  with globalization , introducing some people oriented schemes like MNREGA, and most importantly by taking side of communal politics. Congress led govt could not resolve the conflict between market economy and socialist ideology at the one hand, and between secular credentials of Indian society and Hindu communal aspirations on the other hand. First term NDA govt could only follow the path of the Congress led govt and so economic and socio-cultural inequalities continue to grow which ultimately forced the communally majority voters to switch their allagiance in favour of the BJP which was by then strengthened it's position by exploiting majority 's fear and aspirations and by promising bright economic future. People were so disillusioned with the then govt that they accepted the apprent falsehood of BJP which track record from the days of the Jan Sangh was of communal politics. The BJP had neither any alternative economic vision to offer but  growing discontent forced the people to accept that famous GUJRAT MODEL which was in reality nothing but a big lie. At that time Indian Intelligentsia failed to perform it's historic role to educate the common masses. People bereft of reliable media were forced to rely fake news. Media Mughals and big business tycoons sensed who is going to the seat of power and they hurriedly switched the side and started investing materially and intellectually in the BJP.  This led to rise of the BJP led govt which from the very inception was communal, anti multiculturism , misogynistic, and strongly market oriented, but this govt knowing the reality that it has nothing to offer to reduce the inequalities  among masses from the very beginning gave greater attention to keep religious fanaticism alive by one or other means to keep people busy. At the same time this policy is helpful in continuously fanning the fear of religious majority that they will lose their position if their communal interests were not safeguarded. Numerically small opposition is also intellectually small which has neither credibility nor ability to comprehend the state of affairs. Sensing this local kshatraps to save their clout rallied behind the BJP led govt as they could understand that if they didn't do so they had to prove their relevance only by offering something creative to the people . Most local kshatraps had no clue to solve people's issues and majoritarianism politics  had already   been adopted by the principal poltical party they understood that they could  survive only by aligning with this principal party. Only those local kshatraps who could find some local issues for their survival e.g. Maratha , Bengali and Sikh identity dared to part away.  CPM led  govt in Kerala could withstand due to its ideological base and comparatively more peoples orientation.
Amid all these developments majority of Indian Intelligentsia took refuge to the govt for saving their comfortable life style. Only a minority intelligentsia has taken pain to stand with truth.
  This is the present scenario.

SHRIMADBHAGAVAD GEETA CHAPTER 2 SHLOKA 47

It's a hard fact that more than common masses it's the elite, which ditches idea of India as enshrined in the Indian National Movement and in  the  Indian  Constitution. Role of the judiciaal elite in this context has been more objectionable considering the weight of onus she has to carry to carry on the democracy.     It's the elite which sets the course of actions in most of the cases. And among all elites judicial elites are of paramount importance. In india it's judicial elite which has been responsible for killing of democratic credentials.     And when elite fails masses step in and then elite becomes useless. Farmers movement is it's example. Success of farmers mov is not less than a revolution.
