DEMOCRACY IN INDIA HAS LOST HER MORAL PHILOSOPHICAL COVER

DEMOCRACY IN INDIA HAS LOST HER MORAL PHILOSOPHICAL COVER

Indian democracy in last some years has been stripped off her moral philosophical cover. Moral philosophy is the skin of democracy which protects democracy from various sorts of scratches and aberrations. But when this cover goes democracy's body is exposed to all sorts of external environment. When some sort of dictatorship has to take the place of democracy in guise of democracy herself that dictatorial theory first strip democracy of her moral values . Democracy is based on open discussion, opposition and respect for discontent. Although rules recognize majority's claim yet majority is bound to allow free flow of information , discussion, opposition and even discontentment to happen. Majority resolves the dilemma by resorting to discussion and pursuation and even gives concession to the discontent groups. This is the moral philosophical cover which is removed by a dictatorial regime so that people can't access to truth and only governmental version of truth prevails. Public in general is forced to believe that _Sarkari_ truth as real truth as all other channels to receive another version of truth are either blocked or bought or intimidated. Under such  circumstances public in general fail to know the reality and if some groups or individuals manage to bring another version of truth they are neither believed by general public , nor they are allowed by the  _sarkari_ machinery  to remain survived.  Thus in a democracy stripped off her moral philosophical cover people tend to ignore issues of  shared good, shared problems and shared anxities. Their isolation from realty is strengthened by _sarkari_ propaganda machinery, fake news and fake realities which can be collectively put in one bracket of _post truth_ of the government.
We have seen this during the period of Covid pandemic when the govt denied the presence of millions of migrant labours on roads and the Supreme Court without losing a moment readily accepted this _sarkari_ version of reality whearas the entire world was watching the horrors of pain being suffered by the migrant labours. This was a classic example of the process of transforming of Indian democracy into dictatorship.
Again during second wave when millions of people were running from pillar to post, hundreds of thousands were nervously running from one hospital to another for bed, ventilator and oxygen, uncountable persons were dying in want of treatment and oxygen,  crematoria were busy 24×7 with dead  bodies and sky was red with pyre fire , dead bodies were floating in the Ganga governments were denying the existence of any crisis. Indian democracy has already been stripped off her moral philosophical cover  and it became blatantly evident when government in the Parliament announced proudly that no one, yes no one died due to shortage of oxygen during the second wave and the Indian population peacefully and obediently accepted this _Sarkari_ version of reality. This is just one example of loss of moral philosophical cover of Indian democracy. There are  many others. And this is so complete that no one can say that this or that govt is different. All federal and state govts are equally interested although it's true that states followed the path carved by the central govt as even state govts have found this path more convenient. Similarly although the BJP has been torch bearer for this destruction of democracy yet others are free from ill is not correct either. See what's happening in the election campaign in UP. Both BJP and SP are fighting over Jinnah who died seven decade ago but no political party is taking up issue of _sarkari_ mismanagement and apathy shown during covid. It appears disappearance of moral philosophical cover of Indian Democracy is fast approaching to her completion.

SHRIMADBHAGAVAD GEETA CHAPTER 2 SHLOKA 47

It's a hard fact that more than common masses it's the elite, which ditches idea of India as enshrined in the Indian National Movement and in  the  Indian  Constitution. Role of the judiciaal elite in this context has been more objectionable considering the weight of onus she has to carry to carry on the democracy.     It's the elite which sets the course of actions in most of the cases. And among all elites judicial elites are of paramount importance. In india it's judicial elite which has been responsible for killing of democratic credentials.     And when elite fails masses step in and then elite becomes useless. Farmers movement is it's example. Success of farmers mov is not less than a revolution.
